A man was shot dead before nearby authorities on Thursday in UP’s Ballia over a dispute, the police stated, after which Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath decreed suspension of authorities present.
46-year-old Jaiprakash was purportedly shot dead by Dhirendra Singh, a BJP laborer said to be near BJP MLA Surendra Singh. The incident was caught in video.
In the dramatic video shared by news agency ANI, a large, terrified crowd can be seen frantically running on a field as three rounds are fired.
The victim was purportedly shot in Durjanpur town after an official dropped a meeting on assignment of ration shops because of a dispute between the members who had gathered there, SP Devendra Nath told news organization PTI.
The gathering was held in a tent, where an enormous number of individuals had assembled. Organization and police authorities were likewise present there, local inhabitants told PTI.
MLA Surendra Singh affirmed that the accused heads the BJP’s ex-servicemen’s unit in Ballia and said such an episode “can happen anywhere.”
“This is a casualty that can happen anywhere. In this incident, there was stone-pelting from both sides. The law will take its own course in the matter,” the BJP lawmaker said.
A police case has been regsitered against 15-20 individuals on the grievance of the casualty’s sibling. No capture has been made at this point.
CM Yogi Adityanath requested the suspension of the sub-divisional officer, a top police authority and others before long.
“Taking serious note of the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed that SDM, CO and police personnel present on the spot all be suspended immediately and strictest action should be taken against the accused,” Extra Boss Secretary, Home, Awanish Kumar Awasthi said in Lucknow.
“The function of the officials will be researched and if dependable criminal move will be made,” he said.
A sizeable police power has been sent in the town to keep up peace, police said.
